Come and enjoy Wijirr – a Native Food Experience on the Tweed Heads Historical Site. True local Goori’s sharing their bush tucker knowledge and local experiences followed by a sumptuous brunch on Minjungbal Museum grounds.

Experience a smoking ceremony, Welcome to Country, Bush Tucker yarn by Uncle Franc Krasna, a guided tour plus access to Minjungbal Museum and Shop, which showcases the Tweed Six Seasons Calendar. During these sessions there will be a delicious bush tucker inspired menu cooked by local Goori chef Robert Philp. This is an experience of the Tweed you need to have.

Uncle Franc is a local Elder who has been working the land in varying formats for his entire life. He is currently embedded in teaching people about the local bush tucker and can be seen giving guided tours at Fingal. He is a fountain of knowledge, has a charming nature & loves a good yarn – which makes him the perfect tour guide. He has presented regularly at Minjungbal Museum and is our go-to tourist guide teacher.

Robert Philp is a local Goori lad who is a qualified chef. He obtained his qualifications after his apprenticeship at Murwillumbah Hospital and he is one of the first of our mob to become a chef. He has worked in varying areas but has found his feet at Minjungbal Museum where he does the groundwork, but when needed he applies his skills in the kitchen. Alongside his sister Tina Pidcock, Office Manager and certified Food Safety Supervisor they run a tight ship ensuring that when the need arises they provide quality food.

Visit the Minjungbal Museum and see our latest local resource – The Tweed Seasons Calendar – this was developed and displayed at Tweed Regional Museum for the Grow, Make, Eat exhibition. It is a collaboration between local Goori mob, Tweed Shire Council & Tweed Byron Local Aboriginal Land Council. It was developed in consultation using the collective community knowledge that has been passed down through the generations, showing a ongoing cultural connection to country. We are so very proud of this beautiful calendar which is showcased in the Minjungbal Museum Shop along with other resources developed from this calendar.
