In a year that has gone from restrictions to lockdowns to border woes, one thing is always certain the grass still grows, and the farmers still farm.
The Tweed region is home to a rich, diverse food bowl, growing unique produce year-round. A region where the community goes into lockdown and the producers step up to deliver food and beverages direct to their door.
The people of the Northern Rivers are better together and are growing stronger through the challenges of a global pandemic, beginning to see the light for a brighter future.
Destination Tweed continues to be the voice and industry body that brings together the farmers, the producers, the chefs, and the restaurateurs- the agri-tourism community.
It is with pleasure, anticipation and determination that Destination Tweed brings to life the 5th Tweed Artisan Food Weekend to be held from 18-21st November.
When the October event was postponed due to the on-going restrictions, the event management team, along with the Board and members had to make a decision on a new date and optimistically began to plan for the November event.
With the support of venues creating bespoke events in collaboration with local chefs and farmers, the long weekend program of events will go ahead, and we are confident the industry can bounce back with gusto.
Recently the Tweed was awarded the most ‘Outstanding Region’ in produce in the Harvey Norman Delicious Awards, alongside the Gold Coast Hinterland. The region has been growing from strength to strength in produce (pun intended) from local distillers, to breweries, to farm gates, new eateries and awarded chefs relocating to the area.
The artisan weekend is a celebration of all things Tweed from the ground up, with a focus on indigenous culture, you can expect to be enticed by pop up picnics, bushfoods, tropical soirees, long table brunches, river cruises and evening fiestas.
